Thanks RB .
Zappa is all time . I need to frame that up and put it somewhere . Cash , JG '68 , Sun Ra , Taj , Grace , and Duke Ellington are my tops .
Any Ellington nuts out there ? The man still seems ahead of his times .

I am putting this under your post BD , so you won't think it's BD BB .
After years of saying I would , I began collecting images of my fav people , of all time , and putting them up in my office . Next to the Duke , as I look over , is Billie & Miles . Bill Evans in underneath them as well as Bix .( That Zappa is going on that wall ).

For my first dance with my wife , we choose Prelude to a Kiss , done by the Duke and his orchestra .

As I listen to his music , there is something more , beyond me yet , which I can not grasp .

Among the pics I'm looking at right now over my monitor are framed and signed pics/posters of:
Billy Bragg
Adrian Belew
Patti Smith
Benny Goodman (from my dad)
Charlie Parker and Lee Konitz (w/ Stan Getz signing the cover on the flip side of two way glass - from my dad)
Marianne Faithful
Laurie Anderson

And not signed, but framed Playbill of Jerry at the Lunt-Fontane (and a framed albums of Rocket to Russia, London Calling, and the Gilded Palace of Sin).

I was fortunate enough to see Duke play live in Charlotte, NC on June 28, 1969 as the headliner of the Charlotte Jazz Festival. Also on the bill were Hugh Masekela, Young-Holt Unlimited and Frank Zappa with The Mothers of Invention. Needless to say it was quite a memorable concert.
